Privacy Policy

In short. BucketBay has no account system, no server of its own, and no analytics. It runs entirely on your computer and talks only to the storage endpoints you configure. We cannot see your credentials, your buckets or your files, because none of it ever reaches us.
What BucketBay stores, and where
Everything BucketBay saves is kept on your own computer, in your user profile. Nothing is uploaded to us:
- Connection settings — the name, endpoint, region, access key ID and options for each connection you add.
- Secret access keys — handled separately from everything else. See below.
- Your preferences — language, transfer concurrency, speed limit, default download folder and link lifetime.
- Transfer and activity records — the queue and a local log of what the app did.
- Saved prefixes and public bucket addresses — the locations you pinned, and any public base URL you entered for a bucket.
Your secret access keys
Secret keys are never written into the application database. When your operating system provides a credential store, the key is placed there and the database holds only a reference to it. When no credential store is reachable, the key is encrypted on your machine using a key file that also stays on your machine.
Either way the secret stays on your computer, and it is sent only to the storage endpoint that it authenticates against, over the connection you configured.
What we collect
Nothing. BucketBay contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no usage tracking and no automatic update checks that report who you are. There is no BucketBay account to create and no BucketBay server for your data to pass through.
Network connections BucketBay makes
The app connects to the S3-compatible endpoints you have configured, and to nothing else on its own initiative. Two actions can open something outside the app, and both are things you ask for explicitly:
- Choosing to rate the app opens the Microsoft Store on its listing page.
- Choosing to contact support opens your email client with our address filled in.
Share links
When you create a share link, BucketBay signs it on your computer using your own credentials. The link is not registered with us or with anyone else, and it stops working when it expires, at most seven days after it was created. Anyone you send the link to can reach that object until it expires, so treat it as you would any other secret.
Log file
BucketBay writes a log file on your computer to help diagnose problems. It records what the app did — connections tested, transfers started and finished, errors returned by a storage service. It is never transmitted anywhere. If you send it to us while reporting a problem, please read it first and remove anything you would rather not share; we only receive what you choose to attach.
Children
BucketBay is a tool for managing your own storage infrastructure and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
