These terms cover your use of BucketBay, a desktop application published by IAM_DEV. By installing or using the app you agree to them.

What BucketBay is

BucketBay is a client application for managing object storage that speaks the S3 protocol. It runs on your computer and acts on the storage accounts you configure. It is not a storage service: we do not host your data, and we are not a party to your relationship with your storage provider.

Your account with your storage provider

You are responsible for the credentials you enter and for everything done with them through the app. Your storage provider's own terms, pricing and limits continue to apply — including any charges for storage, requests or data transfer that result from actions you take in BucketBay.

Your data is yours

You keep all rights to the files you manage with BucketBay. We claim nothing over them and, as described in the Privacy Policy, we never receive them.

Back up your data

BucketBay is designed to be careful: every upload is shown to you before it is queued, a failed transfer resumes rather than starting over, and a partial download is never renamed into place. These are safeguards, not guarantees. You are responsible for maintaining backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Public links

A bucket is public only because you configured it that way in your provider's console. BucketBay cannot make a bucket public, cannot make it private again, and cannot verify that the address you entered serves what you expect. Copying a public link from BucketBay shares whatever that address already serves to anyone who has it, with no expiry.

Share links

A share link you create grants anyone holding it access to that object until it expires, up to a maximum of seven days imposed by the S3 signature format. Deciding who to send a link to, and accepting the consequences of it being forwarded, is up to you.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use BucketBay to store or distribute anything unlawful, to access storage you are not authorised to access, or to breach your storage provider's terms. You also agree not to reverse engineer the app except where that right cannot be excluded by law.

No warranty

BucketBay is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will work with every S3-compatible service, since implementations of the protocol differ.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, IAM_DEV is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, revenue or profits, arising from your use of BucketBay — including storage costs incurred through the app and data deleted, overwritten or transferred by it.

Updates and availability

We may update BucketBay to add features, fix problems or keep it working with the services it supports. We may also stop publishing it. Neither obliges us to keep any particular feature in place.

Distribution

BucketBay is distributed through the Microsoft Store, and the Store's own terms govern your download, installation and any purchase or refund.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the change.
